Coaching Model -- Al Carius

North Central College is not usually on our college list. In fact, even though it is only 40 miles from Winnetka, I usually have to tell someone that North Central College is a small college in Naperville when I mention its name. But if you ran for a small college any where else in this country sometime over the last 50 years, you knew of North Central as they have been a dynasty in the sports of track and field and cross country. That was all due to one coach -- Al Carius. His philosophy of "run for fun and personal best" led to decades of success. Recently the college celebrated his tenure and below is a short film about his success. I believe there is a lot to learn from his example regardless of the sport you coach.
