One Read for Friday May 15th
For the 20th year in a row, the girls track team gathered for breakfast today on the morning of our Sectional Track Meet. Although this is one of those last moments of the season, it is a tradition I have begun to enjoy tremendously. The tradition was started back in the spring of 1996 when we only had three girls going to the Sectional meet and I was worried -- since the meet was on a Saturday morning -- that one or two might not show. Now our Sectional meet is on Friday afternoon, we have a lot more girls on the team, and we gather just to be together, laugh, tell stories and eat.
The end of the athletic year comes quickly at North Shore Country Day School. In the next few days, many of our spring athletes will conclude their seasons. Besides the Girls Track Team the Boys Tennis team competes in the ISL Tournament tomorrow. The Girls Soccer team plays in the IHSA Regional Championship Game tomorrow. The Baseball team has their final regular season game tomorrow and starts their Regional this coming Wednesday. JV teams and Middle School seasons are pretty much down to one more event if not over.
It has been a pretty busy week, so I do not have a lot to share except for one article that was really good. It was published in the Wall Street Journal and partially celebrates Yogi Berras 90th Birthday, but it is also about Kindness.
Yogi Berras Best Yogism was a profound Act of Kindness
