Possibly the Greatest Volleyball Point Ever

If you did not see this already, I thought I would post today. Late on Thursday night the University of Illinois Women's Volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Championship game by defeating USC in the 5th and final game of their semi-final match. Below is video of the final point which extended into 55 touches. I hope I can put up better quality video in the future. This final point may be the greatest point I have ever seen given the length of the point which lasted 1 minute and 8 seconds, the intensity of the play from both teams, and the importance of the moment. I am honored that my friend from GAIN (Gambetta Athletic Improvement Network) -- and reader of this blog -- Randy Ballard is the University of Illinois Athletic Trainer for the team, which demonstrates that excellence extends throughout that program. The final is tonight at 7:30 pm CST Illinois vs. UCLA. Good luck to Randy and the players and coaches of the Illini Women's Volleyball Team!

  1. Patrick-
Thanks for the shout out, much appreciated. This was a spectacular play in an amazing performance by two great teams going at it. From the bench the play seemed to last 5 minutes. There wasn't anyone left in their seat and it was a great way to finish probably the biggest win in Illinois volleyball's history. Unfortunately, we couldn't win the title game, but it was an amazing ride. Thanks again, have a happy holidays.
